Conventional sumps pump seasonally high groundwater from under a basement floor and require a below-floor drain tile system and sump pit. Gray-water installations are similar, but the water comes from plumbing fixtures and must be pumped into a plumbing stack. Ejector pumps grind solid sewage, so they can drain a bathroom or an entire house.
